Hi! I’m Julia 👋
A Body Tuner and dance teacher here in Japan with my practices drawing from the Hako Body Tuning method. With each lesson I teach whether it be dance, HBT, stretching or conditioning I fall more and more in love with sharing my ever growing knowledge of the body with my clients, students, family and friends. Studying directly through Hako herself has opened my mind and my eyes to just how important and absolutely necessary tuning your body is!
This is my story:
I was born and raised in beautiful South Africa. As an extremely active child I spent most of my time outside rolling in (and eating) dirt or at the studio not listening to my teacher and causing chaos (while also learning the art of dance). After decades of formal training I stumbled into a path of dancing professionally, becoming a massage therapist, a Reiki healer and ESL teacher.
However, in my mid 20’s I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Disease, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, CPTSD and Adenomyosis. My confidence and self worth took a massive blow and to be honest, life hasn’t been the same since.
I’d tried everything from supplements to prescription opioids, yoga, walks, talks etc but NOTHING was making any difference in the quality of my day to day life. I was tired all the time and the constant pain was almost unbearable.
Then, in my late 20’s on a crisp autumn day I met Hako and, I’m not exaggerating, after a few HBT sessions my pain levels started to decrease, I began losing excess weight around my face and hips and I started being able to sleep through the night! I hadn’t slept through a single night in years!
Now, in my 30’s, I’ve taken back control over my body and my life all thanks to body tuning. I’ve learnt how to regulate my nervous system and realign my body in a matter of minutes! It truly is the gift that keeps on giving and giving and giving.
I’m fortunate enough to spend my time teaching so many others from all walks of life how to manage their pain, regulate their nervous system, strengthen their mind and body, decrease their risk of injury and start preparing their body for old age.
Hako Body Tuning has been changing mine, my clients, students, family and friend’s lives for the better.

FAQs
I have disabilities & mobility/medical issues. Can I still do body tuning?
Of course! Body tuning is for everyone from all walks of life. From young children to the elderly. Modifications can be made if you’re unable to sit on the floor or have a hard time sitting down and getting up. There will always be a way to make it work for you!
Do I need to reserve a spot in class before attending?
Yes, please. Online reservations close 12 hours before the class starts. If you are unable to reserve your spot online and need to attend a class last minute please contact me directly. I’d be happy to help.
What should I wear?
During the consultation I recommend wearing form fitting clothing like leggings or pants as I will need to evaluate your form and posture. For regular sessions please wear clothing that is comfortable and doesn’t put too much strain on your joints.
Can I can cancel my session?
Yes, within a minimum of 24 hours before your session is scheduled to begin.
Can I book more than one FREE consultation?

WHAT IS HAKO BODY TUNING?
A Japanese wellness method created by Hako that promotes conscious living by following the Japanese custom of being intentional with how you move and use your body as well as what you feed your body i.e. food & thoughts.
I realised it’s important to face yourself and create the time and opportunity to loosen, tune and return to your original natural body. It’s not about working hard and adding things onto your routine... but rather, our duty to ourselves is to subtract the load that we have added to our bodies through these unnatural movements. What my method prides itself on is that the “movements to subtract” are simple and can be done by anyone, anywhere - Hako
